This all happened so damn fast! She had to have skills tests, hearing and vision tests and the like. It gets to the part where she has to recite her ABC's. Now mind you, I have heard this girls sing her ABC's and Tra-la-la's millions of times.... and I have heard her count to 10 with no problem when it comes to playing hide and seek. Now, we are sitting in front of this counselor and Reagan was asked to count to 10.

"4, 7, 19, L, 5, J......."

And this goes on right? I am looking at Reagan, baffled because I know she can do it. This counselor lady grabs her pen and starts jotting notes and scores on Reagans skills aptitude test and I know what she is thinking, right? Well the next test was a sheet of paper that had about 30 pictures on them that Reagan was asked to identify.

"Sheep, Gloves, Fence, Girl, Hat, Penguin, Milk....... wait, is that milk or is it Soy Milk?"

Not kidding you, my daughter has concerns whether the milk is soy, but she wouldn't count to 10. Don't worry folks, after the tests were done the conclusion was..... she is where a 4 year old should be.... socially and mentally.

My Life as of now...

Well my husband came home last month! He was home for a month and then I sadly had to take him back to the airport but, he left a little gift behind! IM PREGNANT!!! I had mixed feelings about it, I wanted so badly to be excited... and I am..... but, I didn't want to let the girls at Derby down. Only one of the girls know... I consider her my "big". When I joined FCDG 7 months ago, she took me under her wing... and I was her "little". We have our first bout in a week and a half... I plan on telling the girls shortly after that. I still attend practice... and I am still active with derby, now I know what you are thinking.... "What the hell?" right? Well I am only a couple of weeks along. 3 at the most. Most people don't find out until about 7-8 weeks. Not that it justifies it. I am confidant that nothing is going to happen to the little thing the size of this period ( . )<---- I am pretty thick... My fatty cells are pretty protective. I am going to bout, and then take it easy. I will still attend practice regularly and pay my dues. I will be on skates until I obviously shouldn't be... but, I will not participate in the pack drills and hitting drills. I will mostly be in the center and yell and scream at my girls and pump them up! We have 7 bouts and scrimmages scheduled this season. They are all against other leagues in the surrounding states. I will be at every single one of them..... but, not in participation :( Well on another note, my husband and I went to Utah and Arizona when he came home! It was a blast! I got to see my mega bestie, Laura! I also got to spend time with my family and was able to participate in a Salt City Derby Girls practice! That was a learning experiance! I have to admit, I totally sucked balls at practice! My knees were shaking for the 2 hours of practice! My nerves were so shot from practicing with a large and established team! I was placed with a team for the scrimmages on the second half of practice and I must say..... It is wierd and disorienting to play on a team and look out for faces of people you have never seen.... You are looking for your jammer but, shit, which one is on my team? You are looking for the opposing jammer but, shit, do I hit her? Because, if I do and she happens to BE on my team then I have some pissed off girls!! I know they all wore t-shirts that matched..... but, when you are in the middle of it you don't see that part. Now, if I would have had MY girls with me, I would have performed better, because I know WHICH FACES don't belong on my team! Anyhow, they were all kind and welcoming and I learned quite a bit from them! I admire thier comraderie. I definately had something that I can take back to my own team, besides the bruises.

Flint City Derby Girls

So I have been doing Roller Derby for 4 months. Not nearly long enough to master it... but, I will keep trying! I skate for the Flint City Derby Girls and so far it is a blast. We are a new team trying to get ourselves established so we can start bouting! We need enough girls to take it seriously though... We have quite a few of girls that religiously show up for practice and they are great... We just need a few more girls to make the team! We have to get our USARS (Insurance for sports) and we need to be a league under WFTDA standards. We need more publicity and we definately need sponsors. I have attended a by-laws meeting and plan to attend another this week... and we need our by-laws set and ready in order to even have something to offer as far as sponsors go...*humph* We will get there... Hopefully sooner than later. We are shootin to bout by spring.. I hope that is still the plan.
